Couples must appear in person to file their Intention to marry three (3)
days prior to the wedding. Marriage certificates are generated from
information on these Intentions. In Chilmark, the process costs $16.00 for
the Intention, the Original Marriage Certificate and one (1) certified copy
that is issued after the solemnized license is returned to the community
from which it was issued.
A marriage license may be issued from any city or town in the Commonwealth
regardless of where in Massachusetts the wedding is taking place.
As of January 2005 premarital blood work is no longer required
